Steven Defoe

Steven Defoe received his Bachelor of Science in Management from City University, Yakima Branch, while working full time as the general manager of the law firm of Wiley Hurst & Associates in Yakima, Wa.

Mr. Defoe was admitted to the bar in 1996 after successfully completing the Law Clerk program administered by the Washington State Bar Association. The WSBA is one of just eight remaining states with a program allowing qualified students to become lawyers without attending law school. During the program, the student must work full time for a law firm and agree to undergo rigorous studies in his remaining time.

Mr. Defoe went on to receive certificates of achievement from IBM’s Office Automation and Programming series, and Battelle Institute Project Management programs. He also served on the advisory board to the Computer Science Department for Yakima Valley College, where he was a certified vocational instructor.

He coauthored a procedures manual for processing motor vehicle collision cases entitled, Efficiently Handling Personal Injury Cases of Any Size, and he is the author of Personnel Management for the Law Firm.

Mr. Defoe has served on the Board of Governors for the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association since 2001. He has also chaired the Technology Committee and the Family Law Section for Washington State Trial Lawyers Association.
